Metal railings

Metal railing fabrication for a high-traffic interior space

Metal railings

The project

The City wanted to install a safe metal railing in the main staircase of the Bill Durham Arena. The location was determined, but no technical plans had been developed to ensure compliance and structural integrity.

The mandate therefore consisted of designing a metal stair railing adapted to a high-traffic institutional environment, with mandatory engineer approval.

An engineer’s stamp was required. We therefore produced a detailed shop drawing, based on the measurements provided, then submitted the plans for approval before fabrication.

The result

From the validated shop drawing, we fabricated an interior metal railing in TIG-welded steel. This type of welding provided clean and uniform finishes while ensuring high strength.

The railings were then prepared by orbital sanding to create a uniform surface, then treated with powder coating to ensure durable protection against daily wear.

Installation was completed in one day, with solid anchoring compliant with municipal requirements.

The result: a robust, safe metal stair railing designed to withstand use as intensive as an arena.
