Arc welding in Montréal — heavy work and difficult conditions
Arc welding is the process that needs the least preparation. It works where the others fail: oxidized steel, imperfect surfaces, windy outdoor sites, heavy gauges. It's also the process of choice for certain steels and specialty alloys.
When to choose arc
- Outdoor or on-site work, where wind scatters the shielding gas.
- Oxidized, painted or degraded steel, where a full clean-up isn't realistic.
- Heavy gauges and load-bearing structures under high stress.
- Alloy steels and specialty metals requiring a specific electrode.

The other processes
The right process depends on the part. When to prefer the others:
TIG welding
Prefer it when the bead shows or the sheet is thin.
Learn moreMIG welding
Prefer it when the part has to be strong and move fast.
Learn moreMetal bending
Prefer it on production runs, when a bend can replace a bead.
Learn morePlasma cutting
Prefer it to pull true parts straight from the drawing.
